Best Practices

  • When creating designs for university purposes please consult the Editorial Style Guide for APU.

  • Canva is great for creating images that can be used in email. Keep in mind that utilizing text, such as, event name, date, and time within your email allows your readers to add your event to their calendar. Use the graphic to grab their attention but give them a way to interact.

  • Be mindful of copyrighted materials when creating your graphics. Only use what you have permission to use.

Saving Your Graphics

At this time Canva does not allow a way to automatically save to Google Drive. Your graphics can be saved as a JPG, PNG, or PDF directly to your computer’s hard drive.

Service Notes

Free version has the following limitations:

    • 2 folders for organizing designs

    • Up to 10 team members can share/access designs

    • 1GB storage for photos and assets

    • Access to over 8,000 templates

    • Access to millions of photos for $1 each.

Disclaimer

APU can remove access to this tool at any time without prior notice if IMT determines that the continued use of Canva poses a significant risk to the safety and privacy of university and student data.
